Meet Your Coaches

Becky

The camp manager

Introduce me >>

Hi, I’m Becky, the founder of Gracefull Running and Ex-professional Athlete.

I have been involved in coaching for the last 17 years and work closely with runners of all abilities to help get the best out of themselves by improving their technique, strength and all-round well-being. (I’m a qualified coach, Fitness Pilates Instructor and Gym instructor)

I am incredibly lucky to split my time between St. Moritz and the UK as my partner Thomas (the 'assistant'!), is based out there.

In this pic I am out on an evening walk, smiling away to myself. Indeed I often find it's my cheeks that ache the most after being out on the endlessly stunning trails!

It would be so great to welcome you on the camps and share its captivating beauty with you.

Thomas

The world-class 'assistant'!

Hallo... >>

As head coach of the On Athletics Club for Europe, Thomas Dreissigacker is based in St Moritz for the spring/summer season. He brings world-leading expertise and a sharp analytical eye together with an ability to translate elite science into practical, personalised training insights for runners of all abilities.

For Becky, this connection is personal, given that he is her partner! And she can attest to the fact that, as well as been a big geek, he is also a very lovely, approachable guy, with a refreshing (German!) directness.

During your time in camp, he'll deliver some workshops and a Q&A, and will generally be on hand to offer advice. He might even join in with a run or two!

FAQ's

What are the age limits and can my child attend without me?

Athletes aged 16 and 17 are welcome to attend without a parent or coach. However, because they are legally minors, a parent or legal guardian must complete and sign our Parental Consent, Waiver, and Medical Release Form prior to the start of camp. Please note that the athlete must be mature enough to handle independent travel and the responsibility of a structured training environment.

For athletes under 16, because we are staying in a youth hostel with shared accommodation alongside adults, our policy requires them to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the camp. This ensures they have proper supervision outside of training hours. If a parent and child of different genders are coming together, they must purchase the double room upgrade so that the minor is not in a room with other adults unsupervised. Please note it may also be possible for us to make a 'loco parentis' arrangement with another parent on the camp. Just ask!

As for an upper-age limit, there isn't one! So long as your able (and insured!)

What is the weather like?

Expect beautiful, crisp conditions perfect for training. Daytime temperatures are highly comfortable for running—usually 18-24 °C. Note that even if the thermometer says it’s a crisp 15°C outside on the track, the higher solar radiation up there makes it feel more like a gorgeous 22°C. However, because of the high altitude, the temperature can also drop quite raidly as soon as the sun goes down, often falling to 5-10 °C at night. And, although rare, as with any altitude location, summer storms are a possiblity, but they usually pass quickly.

What additional costs are there?

Your fee covers everything except for flights, internal transfers to St Moritz and free-time spending money. Our Travel Guide and Free-Time Guide will give you an idea of what to budget.

Cards are accepted virtually everywhere except in remote mountain cafes, so you may wish to take a few Swiss Francs. The cheapest and easiest way to spend money there is with a travel credit card that doesn’t charge you a fee for international payments/withdrawals. I use Revolut (very easy to apply for).

How challenging is the altitude and do I have to be a good runner?

Not at all—our camp is designed for runners of all abilities, and you do not need to be an elite athlete to join us!

Training at 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) does add an extra layer of challenge, as the air contains less oxygen. Your heart rate will be slightly higher, and you might feel out of breath faster than you would at sea level. However, we manage this transition very carefully so you can get the benefits of altitude training safely and comfortably.

Here is how we set you up for success:

  • The 2-Day Easy Rule: To help your body acclimate, the first two days of camp are strictly low-intensity. We keep the pace very gentle and the distances short to give your red blood cells time to start adapting without overstressing your system. We provide a detailed guide for this on our camp platform.
  • Digitally Mapped Routes: All of our running routes are pre-mapped digitally so you can review the distance, elevation gain, and terrain, allowing you to choose the exact difficulty level that suits your fitness and goals for that day. We will show you how to use GPS to guide you along the routes so that you don't need to worry about getting dropped or lost.
  • On-Bike Coach Support: Our coaching staff will accompany groups on bikes. They are there to carry extra hydration, offer pacing advice, and support.
  • The Bike Option: If you ever feel fatigued, have a minor niggle, or simply want an easier session, you can swap your running shoes for a bike. Joining the group on wheels is a fantastic way to actively recover while still exploring the stunning alpine trails alongside everyone else.

Whether you want to push your limits or just enjoy beautiful mountain jogs at your own pace, we adapt the camp to fit you.

Can my partner come?

Absolutely! If they are joining if with the camp, you both qualify for the 10% partner discount. Please note that if you'd like to share a room you'll need to upgrade (£250). If they are not going to join in, they can still come and we can help sort accommodation and meals.

Please note that many of the sessions we deliver are not running specific, so they may well want to join in!

What's the food like and do they cater to different dietary needs?

Lovely and yes! Breakfast and dinner are buffet-style, and we get a basic packed lunch. They are able to cater to all dietary needs too.

Tap water is totally safe to drink (and beautifully fresh tasting!)

Do I have to join in with everything?

No! It is very much possible to pick and choose what you do. We try to encourage group training, but it's not a must. We also strongly recommend not suddenly increasing your volume compared to what you do back home.

Can I work out there? What is the signal like?

Yes and there is good internet out there that comfortably supports video calls. I'm currently unsure of the hostel WiFi quality, but there is a detailed guide on our camp platform about making your phone travel-ready.

So absolutely you can work... but really?! I think you deserve a break ;-)

What if I get injured? And what's your refund policy?

If you get injured before or during the camp, there are still loads of non-running activities you can enjoy, so don't throw the towel in! If you decide not to come, as the cancellation policy at the Youth Hostel is very strict, our terms and conditions have to reflect this.

All our policies can be found here.

Have we missed anything? Perhaps it's answered in our brochure? Or on our camp platform once you sign up. But please also feel free to get in touch with any questions...
